Degree Overview:
This program is a blend of engineering, technological, and management skills specifically tailored to the automotive engineering and transport management sectors. It aims to equip students with the necessary competencies to launch a career in the automotive engineering, Freight Transport, Distribution and Logistics (FTDL), and Passenger Transport sectors.

- Mechanical Engineering Science: Introduces the basic laws of physics and their application to engineering.
- Automobile Electrics & Electronics I: Covers the fundamentals of electricity and automotive electrical and electronic systems.
- Automobile Engineering and Vehicle Technology 1: Introduces the basics of motor vehicle systems and the principles involved in their operation.
- Computer Aided Design (Automobile Engineering): Provides an introduction to the standards used in the preparation of engineering drawings and utilizes 2D and 3D CAD software.
- Motor Vehicle Retail Management 1: Provides an introduction to the theoretical and practical aspects of managing in a motor vehicle retailer, covering topics like managing people, business communication, marketing, accounting, and finance.
Year 2:
- Automobile Electrics & Electronics II: Develops knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic components and systems.

- Motor Vehicle Retail Management 2: Emphasizes the management/business/administrative aspect of the Service Manager's job, covering service department work-related areas, the work of the Dealer Principal, and legal issues relevant to the retail motor dealer.

Year 3:
- Automotive Retail & Transport Marketing: Educates students on the importance of marketing and entrepreneurialism in the transport and motor retail industry, helping them formulate a business development and marketing strategy.
- Heavy Vehicle Engineering 1 – Powertrain & Chassis Systems: Advances knowledge of motor vehicle systems to include commercial heavy vehicles, focusing on design and operation of chassis systems, sustainable practice, European environmental regulations, electric, hybrid, and alternative fuel vehicles, and EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion).
- Logistics Management: Builds knowledge of logistics and demonstrates the importance and relevance of Logistics Management.
- Management Science for Transport Management: Introduces the use of Microsoft Excel to solve mathematical problems encountered in the Automotive Engineering & road transportation/logistical sectors.
- Road Transport & Fleet Operations CPC 1 & 2: Enhances knowledge of transport and fleet operations management and prepares students for Paper one of the Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) exam.
- Transport Safety Management: Addresses the need for safety awareness training in the transport industry, covering drivers, vehicles, warehousing, and vehicle repair facilities, with a focus on sustainable practice, European environmental regulations, and EDI.
- Work Placement (Full Semester): Provides practical experience in a professional automotive/transportation environment, emphasizing sustainable practice, European environmental regulations, and EDI.
Year 4:
- Automotive Material Selection: Improves knowledge and understanding of materials used by automotive engineers, applying relevant mechanical equations to practical problems and using a material selection software package.
- Automotive Mechanics & Failure Analysis: Improves knowledge and understanding of mechanics and failure of freight and PSV components, applying relevant mechanical equations to practical problems and using a material selection and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software package.
- Customer Relations, Human Resources & Financial Planning: Provides an active insight into the methodologies and technology used to run a transport business, covering customer relationship management, human resources management, and financial planning, with a focus on regulatory compliance, ethics, legal requirements, sustainable practice, European environmental regulations, and EDI.
- Global Logistics Management: Equips students with the tools to organize, analyze, and control logistic systems, developing professional transferable skills like communication, critical thinking, and problem solving.
- Heavy Vehicle Engineering 2 Advanced Powertrain Systems: Provides an in-depth look at the technologies involved in the design and operation of advanced powertrain systems for commercial heavy vehicles, emphasizing sustainable practice, European environmental regulations, and electric, hybrid, and alternative fuel vehicles.
