Program Overview


The Certificate in Aircraft Technical Services provides experienced aircraft maintenance personnel with a comprehensive understanding of key areas in aircraft technical services, including aircraft records management, continued airworthiness management, and part 21 design. Delivered by industry professionals, the program equips participants with the knowledge and skills to excel in these roles, preparing them for careers in aircraft technical services. Eligible applicants may qualify for funding under the Springboard+ initiative.

The program aims to equip experienced aircraft maintenance personnel with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in these areas.


Objectives:

The program's objectives are to:

  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of aircraft technical services areas, including Aircraft Records during lease transitions, Continued Airworthiness Management (CAMO), and Part 21 Design.
  • Equip participants with the ability to devise, plan, and execute lease transition checklists, ensuring complete documentation of aircraft history.
  • Provide a thorough understanding of airworthiness legislation and its impact on aircraft design and modifications.
  • Foster the ability to manage and deliver CAMO projects, including induction, management, and delivery.

Outline:


Year 1:

  • Aircraft Records: This module focuses on the technical documentation required during aircraft lease transitions.
  • Students will learn to structure, plan, and execute lease transition checklists, ensuring no documentation gaps in the aircraft's history. They will also develop skills in evaluating, reporting, and providing feedback during the process, working collaboratively with lessors and lessees to manage expectations and achieve successful redelivery of all required documentation. Students will be introduced to the theory and practice of initial airworthiness, gaining a detailed knowledge of the development process for major and minor aircraft modifications and repairs.
  • Continued Airworthiness Management Organisation: This module explores the responsibilities of a CAMO department and Maintenance Planning Group, including the delivery of aircraft maintenance work packages to ensure compliance with maintenance programs.
  • Upon completion, students will be capable of completing a lease transition CAMO project, encompassing induction, management, and delivery.

Course Schedule:

  • The course runs over one academic year, starting on Thursday, September 26, 2024.
  • Classes take place one evening per week (Thursdays) from 6 pm to 9 pm.
  • The end date listed for the program refers to the date of the final exam board where results are formally approved.
  • Schedules are subject to change.

  • Continuous assessment (100% online).

Teaching:

  • The program is delivered by experienced industry professionals.
  • The program is developed in partnership with AAV Aviation Services Training and the Aviation industry.

Further Study:

  • Graduates can pursue further study in the Certificate in Aircraft Lease Transition Management.

  • The program is Springboard+ funded in 2024.
  • Successful applicants in employment qualify for 90% Springboard+ funding and are liable for the remaining 10% fee of €255.
  • Successful applicants on a qualifying DSP payment qualify for 100% funding.
  • The application deadline is August 11, 2024.
  • Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, prioritizing unemployed and returning applicants.
  • The course will be closed once the maximum number of applicants is reached.
  • Courses run subject to viable numbers.
