Program Outline
Degree Overview:
The Postgrado de Experto en Fisioterapia Invasiva is a university program designed to equip physiotherapy professionals with the skills to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal conditions using ultrasound-guided invasive techniques. The program aims to provide a new approach to physiotherapy treatment, incorporating the latest advancements in medical technology.
Objectives:
- To provide a comprehensive understanding of ultrasound-guided invasive techniques in physiotherapy.
- To develop practical skills in identifying anatomical patterns and adjusting ultrasound parameters.
- To gain expertise in treating conditions like Myofascial Pain Syndrome using invasive physiotherapy techniques.
- To enhance diagnostic and treatment capabilities for nervous system dysfunctions through the application of electrotherapy in invasive physiotherapy.
- To prepare graduates to effectively address a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, improving patient quality of life in various settings.
Outline:
The program is structured into three modules:
- Introduction to ultrasound: Physical principles, pattern identification, parameter adjustment.
- Sonoanatomy and ecopalpation: Ultrasound-based anatomical recognition and tissue assessment.
- Ultrasound measurements and tools.
- Invasive approach: Techniques, safety parameters, and practical puncture exercises.
- Sonoanatomy of the spine: Cervical, dorsal, and lumbar regions, differentiating muscle, neural, and articular structures.
- Sonoanatomy of the upper limb: Shoulder, arm, elbow, wrist, and forearm, differentiating muscle, neural, and articular structures.
- Physiological principles of Myofascial Pain Syndrome.
- Theoretical and scientific framework.
- Invasive approach for Myofascial Pain in the trunk: Puncture techniques for cervical, dorsal, and lumbar regions.
- Invasive approach for Myofascial Pain in the upper limb: Puncture techniques for shoulder, arm, and forearm.
- Invasive approach for Myofascial Pain in the lower limb: Puncture techniques for hip, thigh, and leg.
Module III: Instrumental Invasive Approaches:
- Electrotherapy and invasive physiotherapy: Physical principles of galvanic current, biological effects of electrolysis, physical principles of PENS, neurophysiological effects of electric current.
- Diagnosis, reasoning, and invasive treatment of connective tissue dysfunctions: Ultrasound characterization and treatment of enthesopathies, ultrasound characterization and treatment of myotendinopathies, clinical reasoning for connective tissue injuries, practical exercises with percutaneous electrolysis.
- Myotendinous injuries of the upper and lower limbs.
- Other applications of percutaneous electrolysis.
- Diagnosis, clinical reasoning, and invasive treatment of nervous tissue dysfunctions: Ultrasound characterization of neuro-connective tissue dysfunctions, neurophysiology of pain, models of neurogenic pain, central and peripheral sensitization, potentiation protocols, depression protocols, practical exercises with percutaneous neuromodulation.
- Ultrasound-guided approach to major neural branches of the upper and lower limbs.
