First Semester:
- Module 1: Strategic Project Management: This module covers concepts related to the company, different organizational styles and cultures, the importance of Project Management in the company, and the value that professionals can contribute in this field. It also delves into the concepts of Project, Program, and Portfolio and their relationship, management, and implementation in companies. Students learn techniques for cost estimation, budget determination, and resource allocation. Finally, they analyze the key elements of effective time management for their projects, including tools for developing and controlling time management plans.
- Module 3: Project Financing and Risk Management: This module delves into essential concepts for evaluating projects and contributing to their success, such as Return on Investment, Net Present Value, Payback Time, and Cash Flow. Students learn techniques for cost estimation, budget determination, and resource allocation. Finally, they analyze the key elements of effective time management for their projects, including tools for developing and controlling time management plans.
- Module 4: The Project Manager and Human Resources and Communication Management: This module analyzes the managerial skills necessary to fulfill the role of Project Manager, as well as the different personal competencies that must be acquired. Students examine the importance of professional ethics, delving into the approach proposed by the PMI for project management. They also work with one of the most important tools for managing communication with different stakeholders. Finally, they gain awareness of the importance of communication for project success. Students analyze the essential characteristics of a sale, bids, contracts, and the actors involved, enabling them to select the most appropriate project sales processes for the needs of a specific project. They also identify the essential characteristics of integration management, specifying the different activities and forms it can develop, and are able to select the most appropriate management processes for the needs of a specific project. Finally, they study the essential characteristics of knowledge management, as well as how knowledge is generated in organizations and how it is acquired and managed in projects.
- Module 6: Innovation in Sectoral Project Management Methodologies: This module aims to help students identify the similarities and differences between traditional and agile conceptions. They explore the differences between traditional (waterfall) and agile project management methodologies. They learn the keys to selecting appropriate leadership approaches and actions in complex adaptive systems. They also acquire knowledge about different project management frameworks and methodologies (PRINCE2, SCRUM, etc.).
- Module 7: Project Quality and Continuous Improvement: This module introduces concepts associated with quality and its application in projects. Students are able to differentiate the stages of quality management in projects and the most appropriate techniques and tools for each stage. Finally, they are able to identify tools for improvement that can be used in projects.
- Module 8: Project Certification Processes: Upon completion of this module, students will be able to identify the requirements for accessing different types of professional certifications in project management (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile). They will also understand the importance of Information Management Systems in projects, both in traditional and agile approaches, and learn about the CYNEFIN management framework.
Second Semester:
- Module 9: Master's Thesis: This module involves students in the academic and professional environment, requiring them to apply the concepts, tools, and techniques learned throughout the master's program in a real-world context. They must solve a real problem by applying project management or research project management in a specific area. Students acquire practical skills in the project planning process, integrating all the necessary aspects of different areas. They are able to replicate a project management scenario where they act as Project Manager, addressing a challenge in the field of project management. Finally, they practice oral and written communication skills, as the Master's Thesis includes a written part and an oral presentation of the same, which they will deliver publicly before an independent panel. Throughout the Master's Thesis development process, students are accompanied by an experienced project management tutor who guides them step by step.
