Program Overview

This semi-presencial Doctorate in Industrial Instrumentation Engineering combines academic research training with practical applications. With a focus on renewable energies, energy efficiency, and biomedical interconnections, it emphasizes cross-disciplinary research supported by specialized labs and partnerships with leading institutions and universities.

Program Outline

Degree Overview:

This program is a Doctorado en Ingeniería de Instrumentación Industrial Aplicada a Transporte Inteligente y Energía Sostenible (Doctorate in Industrial Instrumentation Engineering Applied to Intelligent Transport and Sustainable Energy). It is a semi-presencial (blended) program offered by the Universidad Europea de Madrid. The program aims to introduce students to scientific research and its application in daily practice. It focuses on the development of research in areas like computer engineering, control engineering, renewable energies, and energy efficiency, with interconnections to biomedicine and health.

Outline:

The program is structured into two modules:

  • Module Formativo (Formative Module): This module is designed for students who have not previously taken equivalent courses and provides a 12 ECTS credit complement in research methodology and procedures related to environmental sustainability and energy optimization in buildings.
  • Recursos asociados a la actividad investigadora (Resources Associated with Research Activity):
  • 3 ECTS
  • Prácticum (Practical):
  • 3 ECTS
  • Module Investigador (Research Module): After completing the research training modules, students will present their doctoral thesis project.
  • Once the project is approved, students will continue with the thesis development. The thesis director will propose actions and deadlines for successful thesis completion. The doctoral thesis will be an original research work related to the field of education, developed by the future doctoral candidate. Doctoral students will be integrated into one of the research groups associated with the doctoral program, where they will develop their doctoral thesis under the supervision of a thesis director, who is always a member of the research group.

Teaching:

  • The program's faculty consists of doctors specialized in the program's research lines, with extensive recognized experience, high-impact publications, and research sexenios.
  • The Universidad Europea is a leader in scientific publications among private Spanish universities.
  • The program offers access to specialized laboratories and research resources, including:
  • Hydraulic Machinery Laboratory, equipped with a pump bench and simulators.
  • Automotive Technology Laboratory, with an internal combustion engine test bench.
  • Renewable Energy Laboratory, equipped with simulators and models.
  • Electrical Installations and Machines, with benches and simulators for electrical equipment and machines.
  • Industrial automation and home automation, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and home automation benches.
  • Structures and materials testing laboratory: destructive and non-destructive.
  • Software and simulators: Catia, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Ansys, Nastran-Patran, Fluent, Wasp, PVSist, PVSol, for application.
  • Computer Systems Laboratories.
  • Control and Robotics Laboratory: SCORBOT ER IX manipulators from Eshed Robotec, industrial automatons from Siemens and Telemecanique, various types of continuous process models from ELWE, and finally, machine vision systems from MATROX.
