Outline:

The Master in Odontopediatría is a 60 ECTS program delivered in Spanish and offered in Valencia. It is a 9-month program, with a focus on the latest treatments for pediatric patients. The program is structured into 8 modules:

  • Module 1: Research Methodology: This module covers methodology and design of research work, documentation and bibliographic sources, and treatment and analysis of results.
  • Module 2: Fundamentals of Pediatric and Adolescent Dentistry: This module covers growth, development, and dental eruption, eruption disorders, pharmacology in ODP, pediatric oral pathology.
  • Module 3: Prevention and Public Health: The Future of Pediatric Oral Health: This module covers childhood caries: eradication goal in Odontopediatría, oral care for babies and parent school, pediatric preventive dentistry, minimally invasive dentistry, materials in ODP, conservative dentistry in ODP, early childhood caries, incisor-molar hypomineralization (HIM) and of the second deciduous molars.
  • Module 4: Comprehensive Diagnosis and Treatment in 21st Century Pediatric Dentistry: This module covers pulp therapy in deciduous and permanent dentition, trauma in deciduous dentition, trauma in permanent dentition, surgical treatment of pediatric patients and prosthodontics in ODP, pediatric periodontics, aesthetics in ODP, neuro-occlusal rehabilitation (RNO), new technologies in Odontopediatría.
  • Module 5: Latest Generation Orthodontics: This module covers diagnosis of oral habits and malocclusions, speech therapy and functional re-education in Odontopediatría, early diagnosis and treatment of malocclusions, biomechanics applied in orthodontics, general orthodontic treatment in young permanent dentition, invisible orthodontics.
  • Module 6: Special Situations in Pediatric Dentistry: Special Patients, Sedation and General Anesthesia: This module covers child abuse: importance in dentistry, dentistry in pediatric patients with special needs, pharmacological management of behavior, nitrous oxide sedation, general anesthesia in ODP, emergencies in ODP, emergencies and CPR in ODP, emergencies in ODP.
  • Module 8: Master's Final Project: This module involves the completion of a final project.

Teaching:

The program utilizes an active and practical methodology, with real-world work environments. Students will have the opportunity to work with patients and make decisions in communication, social skills, and critical thinking. The clinic features 35 modern dental chairs in individual booths, a dental workshop-laboratory, a sterilization room, classrooms for clinical sessions with extended classroom technology, a waiting room, changing rooms, and offices.
