Degree Overview:
This course provides an introduction to the world of events and equips participants with the essential skills to run successful events, conferences, and product launches. It is designed for individuals interested in event planning, whether they are planning events at work, preparing to enter the workplace, or looking to change careers.
Objectives:
- Gain an understanding of the process in planning events in a variety of settings.
- Develop knowledge of what a profession in events can entail.
- Develop the skills needed to confidently plan and deliver an event to a professional standard.
Teaching:
- The course is taught in-person at the Summit Centre in Kirkby-in-Ashfield.
- The course is led by Paula Kelsey, an experienced event and marketing professional with over 30 years of experience in running corporate events and awards ceremonies.
- Paula has experience in various sectors, including advertising, aerospace, design, digital marketing, medical conferences, and food industry trade shows.
- She also runs her own business, Cloud 9 Event Management, and is the chair of the Alliance of Independent Event Agencies and a Board Member on the UK Awards Standards Council.
Other:
- The course is delivered through the Enterprising Ashfield project, funded by the Government's Towns Fund.
- The course is offered free of charge to eligible participants who live or work in Kirkby-in-Ashfield or Sutton-in-Ashfield.
- The course provides one-to-one attention to ensure participants leave with the skills to continue developing their skills at home or work.
- Upon completion, participants receive a certificate of attendance, which can enhance their CV.
