This short course, "Photography and Heritage," is designed to equip students with the skills needed to capture the essence of a place through photography. It's suitable for individuals of all skill levels, from beginners to those with prior experience, who have an interest in history, heritage, art, or design. The course emphasizes the unique relationship between heritage and photography, exploring how to capture the aesthetic qualities of landmarks and communicate a personal experience through images.
Teaching:
The course is taught through a combination of practical exercises and theoretical discussions. Students will:
- Discuss the work of professional photographers and how it can inform their own creative direction.
- Gain experience working in various urban locations, capturing both the exterior and interior aspects of historic and contemporary buildings.
- Develop a personal photographic style.
- Print their own photographs in a darkroom.
- Create visually appealing and technically sound images.
Other:
The course is part of the NTU Global Summer School, attracting undergraduate students from colleges worldwide. Students will have access to full-size photography studios, darkrooms, and Mac editing suites with Adobe Creative Cloud software. They can also utilize the NTU library for research and referencing.
The fee for this course is £1,200.
