The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Management and Business at Aberystwyth University is a three-year program that provides a platform for conducting original academic research that makes a new contribution to a specific field of study. - Supervision: As a research student at Aberystwyth, you'll be allocated to a supervision team of two academic members of staff. The main supervisor is usually a senior academic with considerable research experience in your proposed field of study. The appropriateness of the match between student and supervisor is an important element in the success of any PhD program.
- Research Techniques: Unless you've already completed a Masters course with a recognized research training element, you'll be required to complete the Social Science Research Training Programme. This will enable you to develop excellence in research techniques in order to successfully complete your PhD. You may also be required to undertake additional advanced study modules in your chosen discipline.
Teaching:
- Teaching & Learning: During your first year, you will complete our Social Science Research Training programme that will set you up with the skills and knowledge to successfully complete your PhD. Your research will be guided by a supervisory team, who will help you refine your research proposal, and guide you in data collection and analysis. At the end of your studies, you will have a viva voce exam (a verbal defense of your thesis).
