Degree Overview:

This MPhil in Materials Science and Engineering is a full-time, two-year program designed for intensive, supervised study within Sheffield Hallam University's research community. Teaching:

The program emphasizes independent research, with students receiving support and guidance from a supervisory team consisting of a Director of Studies and a second supervisor specializing in the student's chosen area. Learning takes place through:

Home students:

Our tuition fee for UK postgraduate research students starting full-time study in 2024/25 is £4,786 per year. Information on whether a bench fee is chargeable can be provided by the relevant Research Institute, and will be confirmed in your offer letter. If you are studying an undergraduate course, postgraduate pre-registration course or postgraduate research course over more than one academic year then your tuition fees may increase in subsequent years in line with Government regulations or UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) published fees.

International students

Our tuition fee for International/EU postgraduate research students starting full-time study in 2024/25 is £17,205 per year. Information on whether a bench fee is chargeable can be provided by the relevant Research Institute, and will be confirmed in your offer letter.
