  • CR6808: Trauma and Frontline Workers

Course Schedule:

  • The course will begin with an orientation week.
  • Students will attend a one-hour online tutorial on Wednesday evenings.
  • A Masterclass will be held for two hours every second Thursday evening.
  • The course lasts for 12 weeks.

Teaching:

  • The course is delivered online.
  • The course is delivered by the Department of Criminology at UCC in conjunction with WAVE Trauma Centre in Belfast, and Adult Continuing Education (ACE), UCC.
  • Students will have access to both academic and pastoral support via both ACE and the course tutor.

Other:

  • The course is not a practice-based course, but it does address issues that some participants may find upsetting and triggering.
  • The course is not delivered in a therapeutic environment, and students should be mindful of the impact engaging in some topics may have on their own well-being.
  • The course is delivered via an interdisciplinary lens, drawing on contemporary academic literature from psychology, sociology, victimology, trauma studies, and psychiatry.
