Law - Law, Technology and Innovation PG Cert
Course Outline
The Postgraduate Certificate in Law, Technology and Innovation is a one-year part-time program that explores the inter-relationship between law and technology from regulatory and commercial perspectives. Students will discuss novel and dynamic issues concerning social networks, music and video copyright, regulation of electronic contracts, and data protection.
Course Practicalities
- Classes are in seminar format, suitable for postgraduate level.
- Advance reading lists and/or materials are provided for each seminar.
- Seminars take place in two-hour blocks between 9am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
- 10 credit modules run for 12 weeks, and 5 credit modules run for 6 weeks.
- The part-time option is taught during weekday working hours over 1 year.
Assessment
- Continuous assessment throughout the year.

Requirements
- Candidates must be approved by the School of Law.
- Normally, candidates must hold a Second Class Honours Grade I in a primary honors Law degree (NFQ, Level 8), or have such other relevant third-level educational qualifications and/or professional experience as, in the opinion of the School of Law, qualifies the candidate under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to undertake the Postgraduate Certificate in Law, Technology and Innovation.

- Applicants must meet the required entry academic grade, equivalent to Irish requirements.

- If the course requires a deposit, that figure will be deducted from the second-semester fee payment in January.

- Fees are payable in two equal installments.
- The first payment is at registration, and the balance is usually by the end of January.
