The University of Regina's Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Studies programs equip students with a business foundation in sport and recreation management. The four-year program offers fieldwork placements, while the five-year program combines business administration and includes an internship. Degree Overview:
The University of Regina offers two Bachelor's degree programs in Sport and Recreation Management:
- Four- or five-year Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Studies in Sport and Recreation Management: This program focuses on the management and business side of the sport and recreation industry at various levels (local, provincial, national, and international). Students can choose between a 4-month fieldwork placement or an 8-to-12 month paid internship.
- Five-year Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Studies Internship/ Bachelor of Business Administration Joint Program: This program combines the Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies and the Faculty of Business Administration, resulting in two bachelor degrees. Students learn about the newest business skills relevant to the sport and recreation management field, such as data analytics, live event production, sport communication, digital marketing, and venue and event management.
Objectives:
- To provide students with a solid business foundation with an applied focus on sport and recreation events, organizations, and businesses.
- To prepare students for careers in the sport, recreation, leisure, and tourism industries.
- To equip students with the knowledge and skills to manage and facilitate people's participation in sport and recreation.
Teaching:
- Faculty: Students learn from faculty members and instructors who work in the sport and recreation industry, bringing real-world perspective and experience to the classroom.
- Unique Approaches:
- Live Event Broadcast and Video Production Studio: Students gain hands-on experience in the production of live sporting events and sport information management in a modern broadcast and production studio. They develop skills in interviewing, camera operation, direction, and production of replays and highlight packages.
- Community Service Learning or Volunteer Opportunities: Many courses involve on-campus or community-based projects with local organizations. Students also have opportunities to gain volunteer and work-related experience in their field.

- Fieldwork Placement or Paid Internship: Students in the four-year program can choose between a 4-month fieldwork placement or an 8-to-12 month paid internship.
