Program Overview
This hands-on short course immerses participants in alternative photography using cyanotypes. Led by an experienced tutor, the course explores unconventional techniques and encourages experimentation with various materials. The intimate class size and creative studio atmosphere foster discussion, collaboration, and pushing the boundaries of image-making. Participants receive a certificate of attendance upon completion.

Degree Overview:
This short course provides an immersive and hands-on experience in alternative photography techniques using cyanotypes. Participants will learn how to create cyanotypes using a variety of materials and experiment with alternative techniques to achieve stunning and unconventional results. The course is ideal for photography and darkroom enthusiasts, artists, and any creative image-makers interested in pushing the boundaries of traditional image-making processes.
Teaching:
- The course is taught in a creative studio culture that promotes discussion, collaboration, experimentation, and idea sharing.
- The class size is limited to 8 people, ensuring one-to-one attention.
- The course is led by an experienced tutor with established links to the profession and significant experience in varied photographic and darkroom practices.

- On successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

- The course is offered in two formats:
- Wednesday to Friday, 10 am - 4 pm, three days
- Thursdays 6 - 8.30 pm, five weeks
- The course is held at Nottingham Trent University.
Entry Requirements:
Year 1
- Minimum Year 1
- SQA Higher: Standard Entry Requirement: BBBC. National 5 C in Maths (Applications of Maths is accepted) and English. Minimum Offer Entry Requirement: CCCC. National 5 C in Maths (Applications of Maths is accepted) and English.
- A Level: CCC. GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths and English.
- Irish Leaving Certificate: Grades H3, H3, H3, H3 at Higher Level. Grade O4 at Ordinary Level in Maths and English also required.
- BTEC (QCF) Extended Diploma Level 3: Minimum grades MMM (Merit, Merit, Merit) in a related subject. GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths and English.
- BTEC (QCF) National Diploma Level 3: Minimum grades DD (Distinction, Distinction) in a related subject. GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths and English.
- International Baccalaureate Diploma: Award of Diploma with 26 points overall with three HL subjects at grades 5, 5, 5. 4 points in SL Maths and English.
- T - Level: Pass including GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths and English.
Year 2
- Minimum Year 2
- SQA Advanced Higher: BBC. National 5 Grade C in Maths (Applications of Maths is accepted) and English.
- A Level: BBB. GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths and English.
- BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3: DDM (Distinction, Distinction, Merit) in a related subject. GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths and English.
- This may not apply if you have completed all your school qualifications in English.
