Program Overview
This postgraduate program in Paediatric Imaging from the University of Suffolk focuses on developing radiographers' knowledge and skills in imaging paediatric patients. Through three mandatory modules, students explore holistic child development, projection imaging techniques, and suspected physical abuse cases. The program prepares radiographers for advanced practitioner/lead roles in paediatric imaging and supports the advancement of paediatric imaging practices within their departments.

Degree Overview:
This course has been designed to support the advancing practice of radiographers in the field of paediatric imaging. The imaging of a paediatric patient often presents radiographers with a range of complex issues to consider. This course will allow you to develop your theoretical knowledge and your clinical experience and apply these to current practice. This will support the development of paediatric imaging within your department and equip you with skills and knowledge to evidence your role as a lead paediatric radiographer and advanced practitioner in paediatric imaging.
Outline:
The course is structured around three mandatory modules:
- Children’s Holistic Development: This module will enhance students’ overall understanding of child development and behaviour and how to support this in their everyday practice. It will provide students with a firm theoretical grounding in theories of children’s development in order to underpin and influence their practice.

- Friday 8 November 2024 (on campus)
- Thursday 21 November 2024 (online) The importance of the diagnostic content of the resultant imaging will be examined and students will be taught the significant radiological features which influences management of the condition. Specific needs and care of children (and their carers) undergoing radiographic procedures will be explored in the context of relevant protocols and legislation. It is envisaged that students will have an opportunity to share their experiences and working practices.

- Narrated Case study presentation (Hand in by 12 noon on Thursday 20 March 2025)
- OSE (Friday 21 March 2025 13.30-14.30) Registry Services complex emotional and management issues to consider and these will be considered alongside current protocols and guidelines underpinned by ethical and legal professional practice. It will also encourage the students to develop a reflexive approach to their practice in order to provide the best possible care for the child and their family/carers.
