The Non-Destructive Testing BSc (Hons) enhances knowledge and skills acquired in the FdSc program, focusing on advanced NDT techniques. Delivered via flexible distance learning, students study modules and complete a substantial project, with coursework-only assessments. The program prepares graduates for career advancement in NDT, including managerial roles, and is closely linked to the PCN certification through BINDT.

Degree Overview:
This Non-Destructive Testing BSc (Hons) course builds upon the ideas explored during the Non-Destructive Testing FdSc to increase knowledge and skills which will help you in your current job and increase your career prospects. In order to complete the award, you will study four modules and complete a substantial project, to a total of 120 credits. The non-destructive testing degree is closely linked to the Personal Certificate of Non-Destructive Testing (PCN) through the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BiNDT). This course is available via Distance Learning with a January intake.
Outline:
- Course Content: On the Non-Destructive Testing Top-Up BSc at the University of Northampton you will study advanced NDT techniques, such as corrosion analysis, thermographic testing, vibration analysis and advanced inspection techniques.
- Methods of Learning: The delivery of the non-destructive testing course, through a modular approach via distance learning, gives you the flexibility to study when you can. The course is available full-time or part-time and you can choose which modules to study at each stage. You can take one module as a taster to decide if the full course is for you, or just to specialist in one area. Modules are assessed by coursework only. The modules relating to the academic year 25/26 will be available from June 2025.
