This program immerses learners in a comprehensive study of diverse literary genres from various eras and cultural backgrounds, including perspectives from Canada's Indigenous communities. Through critical analysis and written assignments, students develop analytical and essay writing skills, preparing them for careers in literature, writing, or related fields.

In this course, learners study novels, short stories, and poetry. Works are representative of various historical periods and cultural contexts, including perspectives from Canada’s Indigenous communities. Learners engage in critical analysis of those readings and compose critical essays and formal written assignments totaling not less than 3000 words.
