Degree Overview:

The Distance Learning MA in Creative Writing is a two-year, part-time program designed to help students hone their writing skills and work towards a career in writing.

The program aims to:

• Help students develop their writing abilities in their chosen genre, be it fiction, poetry, scriptwriting, or creative non-fiction.
• Provide students with individual feedback and support from published authors specializing in their genres.
• Foster a sense of community among students, allowing them to connect and share their work with peers from around the globe.
• Prepare students for potential publication of their work and a career in writing.

Description:

The program is flexible, allowing students to study from anywhere in the world at their own pace. Students receive one-to-one tutorials twice per term with their assigned published writer tutor, as well as participate in group conferences where they can share their work with other students and members of the faculty. The program also includes a week-long summer school on campus where students can meet their tutors and fellow students in person, participate in workshops, and interact with industry professionals.

Assessment:

The single point of assessment for the program is a project outlined by the student in their application. This project can be a collection of short stories, poems, a script, or extracts from a longer piece of fiction, creative non-fiction, or life writing.

Teaching:

The program is delivered online, with a focus on individual and group feedback. Students receive:
