The Arts Management MA program is a full-time one-year course that comprises various core and optional modules.

Core Modules:

• Arts Management Practice: This module introduces students to the management principles, systems, and processes within arts organizations.
It delves into the challenges faced by these organizations and how they impact traditional management concepts.
• Creative Industries Research Project: This module offers students flexibility to engage with the creative industries through collaborative research with an organization or focused research on specific issues impacting the creative industries.
• Dissertation: Students undertake a research-based dissertation during the summer term.
This allows for an in-depth study and culminates in a long-form piece of work, typically between 12,500 and 15,000 words, focused on a significant issue or issues within the arts sector or a specific industry.
• Research Theory and Methods: This module covers the research process, diverse research approaches, project planning and management, ethical considerations, data collection and analysis, and subject-specific research methods.
It explores the environment in which arts organizations operate, the strategic challenges they encounter, and how business strategies are developed and implemented within this sector.

Optional Modules:

• Environmental Crises and Societal Change: This module examines the environmental crisis, societal change, and the relationship between the two.
It utilizes a place-based approach (Lancaster, Morecambe Bay, and the Lake District) and explores the dissonance and convergence of temporal scales to understand the contributing factors to political inaction and cultural indifference.
• Personal Development: This module focuses on personal values, attitudes, interpersonal skills, and self-development.
