Program Overview


This Construction Management and Economics MSc prepares individuals for leadership roles in the construction and property industries. Graduates develop analytical, technical, and managerial skills through modules covering economics, finance, and management in construction projects. Program Outline

This Master's in Construction Management and Economics was developed in response to a growing demand for capable and creative professionals from the construction and property industries. On this course, you will learn the theory and application of economics, finance and management in the context of large-scale construction projects. Our modules include construction economics, construction project management, development economics and planning, and real estate development and investment. Graduates will be able to pursue roles in project and construction management consultancy, quantity surveying, or careers within construction companies, environmental agencies, local authorities and regeneration agencies.

Assessment:

There are variety of assessments, including coursework, a portfolio, presentations and exams. Each course has formal assessments which count towards your grade. Portfolio submission presentations, essays and reports all form part of your degree. Some courses may also include practice assessments, which help you monitor progress and do not count towards your final grade.


Teaching:

In a typical week, you will have lectures, seminars, and workshops (which may include critiques) to discuss your work with colleagues and tutors. Visiting lecturers will also be available in each term for specialist lectures, workshops and tutorials. Theory courses will be taught alongside other Master's programmes to encourage subject crossover and multidisciplinary views. You will be taught by renowned professional and academic experts with specialisms in the field of construction, property and surveying practices. Classes are held in the world-class facilities of Stockwell Street and are taught in small numbers in order to maximise contact time with tutors.

It is also designed for mid-career professionals preparing to make the transition into the construction and property industry.

The course addresses and defines new trends and knowledge in the field of built environment and prepares you to become a registered Chartered Surveyor. It equips you with planning and controlling skills for resource allocations, detailed design and production needs to meet project and market objectives. You’ll focus on the presentation and communication of workable solutions to complex problems. Develop analytical, technical and managerial skills and prepares you for leadership roles. You’ll build knowledge and understanding of management and economics in construction and related fields. This course is accredited by a leading professional body, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
