Degree Overview:
The Master of Strength and Conditioning program at UniSQ is designed for graduates in sport and exercise science, clinical exercise physiology, or related fields who seek to advance their careers in strength and conditioning. The program provides specialized work-integrated learning skills and practical experience, preparing graduates for professional roles in high-performance settings such as sport schools, academies, institutes of sport, law enforcement, military, and community sport and recreation programs.
Outline:
The program consists of 16 units, including 10 core courses and either 4 research track courses or 4 coursework track courses. The core courses provide a foundation in strength and conditioning principles, assessment, programming, nutrition, and injury prevention. The research track courses allow students to develop their research skills and write a thesis based on a project in a chosen strength and conditioning application area.
Teaching:
The program is delivered through a combination of online learning and on-campus residential schools. Students have access to world-leading coaches and researchers who have worked with elite athletes in various sports.
Careers:
Graduates of the program can find work in high-performance settings such as sport schools, academies, institutes of sport, law enforcement, military, and community sport and recreation programs. They can also progress their careers to become Strength and Conditioning Leads or Directors of Strength and Conditioning.
Other:
- The program is accredited by the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA), which is endorsed by Sport Australia.
- Students are required to complete 160 hours of practical experience as part of the coursework track.
- The program includes two mandatory residential schools on the UniSQ Ipswich campus.
