Degree Overview:
UniSQ's industry-aligned Bachelor of Visual Art aims to produce professional graduates who are creative, innovative, adaptable, and entrepreneurial. This degree focuses on ensuring graduates with comprehensive knowledge and technical proficiency within studio practice, as well as a strong, self-directed work ethic. With a major in Curation, Innovation, and Visual Art, students will acquire knowledge about the intricacies and skills of constructing artistic and creative meaning through exhibition. Students will learn from UniSQ Visual Art staff who are industry professionals engaged in longstanding research, practice, exhibition, education, and advocacy. Students have the freedom to undertake minors, majors, and double majors that open up study opportunities and employment qualifications.

To complete this degree, students must complete 24 units.
Courses to be studied:
- Core courses: 4 units
- 12-unit Curation, Innovation, and Visual Art major: 12 units
- 1 x second 8-unit major or 2 x 4-unit minors or 1 x 4-unit minor plus 4 x elective courses: 8 units
- The second 8-unit major can be chosen from any approved 8-unit major in another discipline in the School of Creative Arts (e.g., Theatre, Music, TV/Radio, Film Production, etc.)
Teaching:
Students will have the opportunity to come on-campus for residential schools, where they will attend face-to-face lectures and tutorials to gain practical experience, use facilities and specialist equipment, and meet staff and other students.
Other:
- Students will need to provide some of their own art materials while studying this degree. Materials lists will vary depending on the studio area(s) undertaken.

- Sound knowledge in English (Units 3 & 4, C) and Visual Arts (Units 3 & 4, C).
- Equivalent to a grade C or higher in Units 3 and 4 at high school level (typically studied in Year 12).
- If no ATAR, applicants can successfully undertake an interview and supply a written statement.
- Applicants will need to bring:
- A headshot-style photo of yourself
- A school exit statement, or evidence of previous education standard achieved.
- A portfolio of work to the interview. This should contain at least 8-10 high quality images of past artwork.
TAFE (VET) Qualification:
- If you have completed a qualification from a TAFE or qualified private provider, you may be able to use these qualifications to meet UniSQ's entry requirements.
Work and Life Experience:
- You may be able to use your work experience and other adjustment factors to increase your selection rank and meet UniSQ's entry requirements.
English Language Requirements:
- You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.
Recognition of Prior Learning or Work Experience:
- You may be eligible for recognition of prior learning if you have previously studied or have relevant work experience. This will help to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.
