The Global Citizenship Certificate, offered at Bath Spa University, is an extracurricular program that enhances students' global perspective and employment skills. Program Outline

It aims to provide students with a global perspective and enhance their international experience. The program emphasizes developing global awareness and equipping students with skills and knowledge relevant to the global employment market. Upon successful completion, students receive a Certificate in Global Citizenship, which complements their degree but does not alter the degree title or results.


Outline:


Year One and Two:

  • Attendance at Global Citizenship events.
  • Completion of an international placement (study, research, or work experience).
  • Participation in the Global Citizenship Forum, working in small groups.

Year Three:

  • Attendance at Global Citizenship events.
  • Completion of a reflective assignment on the program and personal development as a global citizen, drawing on experiences from the lecture series and international placement.

Course Schedule:

  • Lectures are held between five and eight times per year, delivered by internationally renowned speakers from various fields, including business, education, politics, arts, culture, and government.
  • Lectures are a mix of virtual and in-person events.

Assessment:

  • Attendance at the lecture and seminar series.
  • Active participation in group work within the Global Citizenship Forum during the first and second years.
  • Submission of a reflective assignment in the third year, evaluating the Global Citizenship course and personal development as a global citizen.
