Students choose one option module from each of the following groups:


Group 1:

  • Consecutive Interpreting: This module focuses on the theory and practice of consecutive interpreting, equipping students with the skills to interpret between English and Arabic in real-time.
  • Translating Different Genres: This module explores the challenges and strategies involved in translating different text types, such as literary, technical, and legal texts.
  • Simultaneous Interpreting: This module explores the theory and practice of simultaneous interpreting, equipping students with the skills to interpret between English and Arabic while simultaneously listening to the source language.
  • Computer Assisted Translation Tools: This module introduces students to various computer-assisted translation tools and technologies, exploring their applications in the translation process.

Dissertation:

The MA program includes a dissertation, which allows students to conduct in-depth research on a chosen topic related to translation studies.


Assessment:

Assessment methods include:

  • Essays
  • Practical translating/interpreting tasks

  • All work submitted for assessment (except for translations from English into another language, but including commentaries on such work) must be in English.
