The Chemistry program at UAB provides a solid foundation in chemistry fundamentals with core courses and allows students to choose from three concentrations. The Chemistry Scholars Program pairs students with faculty mentors and provides undergraduate research and teaching experiences.

From advanced materials to drug development and more, chemistry drives the discoveries and technologies that transform our lives in the 21st century. A chemistry degree can be used in a variety of careers such as healthcare, research, and education. First, you'll need to build a foundation with our core courses of Calculus, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Fundamentals of Biochemistry, and Quantitative Analysis. Then, you can choose from three concentrations, and for each one, a full-time academic advisor will help you stay on track. If you wish to pursue a career in teaching, you'll even be able to earn a certification to teach chemistry or general science through the UABTeach program.
