Upon completion of the certificate, students will be able to:
- Characterize key regulatory and business issues applicable to the cannabis industry.
- Identify and analyze the current and potential future economic impacts of cannabis and hemp.
- Develop and implement well-managed and well-executed financial and operation plans.
- Discuss the history and haphazard progression of legislation and the current status of regulations, policies, and laws primarily in the US (federal and various state).
- Design and manage simple and complex innovative projects related to the cannabis industry.
Outline:
The Cannabis Business Certificate is a stackable certificate that can lead to the MS in Medical Cannabis Science and Business. The program consists of three required courses:
- CBU 501 Emerging Issues in the Business of Cannabis (3 credits): This course explores the evolving legal and regulatory landscape of the cannabis industry, including federal and state regulations, licensing requirements, and compliance issues.
- CBU 506 Essentials of Cannabis Financial and Operations Analysis (3 credits): This course focuses on the financial and operational aspects of cannabis businesses, including budgeting, forecasting, inventory management, and marketing.
- CBU 509 Industrial Hemp Materials, Process, and Products (3 credits): This course examines the industrial hemp industry, including its history, cultivation practices, processing methods, and applications for various products.
