Degree Overview:
The MS in Textile Design program at Thomas Jefferson University blends aesthetic, conceptual, creative skills with emerging technologies. Students turn innovative ideas into industry-leading products in collaborative maker spaces. State-of-the-art facilities in the Fashion & Textiles Futures Center enable students to put professional skills into practice. Design studio courses comprise the majority of the coursework in the MS program, with design research and ideation emphasized from the beginning. Graduate students select knit design, print design or woven design as a primary area of practice. Courses are taught by active members of the textile design field: artists, design directors, authors and researchers. Visiting artists and guest lecturers expand the educational experience, bringing immersive opportunities to the classroom experience. Partnerships with industry thought leaders, national and international design competitions and exhibitions at global trade shows provide practical experience as students prepare for graduation. Internships are strongly supported and encouraged during the course of study.
