Program Overview
The Sport Management, BS program at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi prepares students for careers in the sport and leisure industries. The curriculum focuses on sport governance, marketing, finance, and administration, and is designed to meet the accreditation standards of the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA). Graduates are equipped with the skills to work in a variety of private, nonprofit, and public sport settings.

Degree Overview:
The Sport Management, BS (BSSM) program at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi focuses on the sport and leisure industries in the Coastal Bend region, including ocean-based sport, collegiate athletics, and minor league sports. The curriculum provides comprehensive industry knowledge with a focus on sport governance, marketing, finance, and administration. It prepares graduates for employment in a variety of private, nonprofit, and public sport settings. The BSSM curriculum was developed in accordance with the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) and A&M-Corpus Christi plans to become the first COSMA accredited program among Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). This degree can also be used as a stepping stone to advanced degrees in sport management, tourism management, and leisure studies.
Outline:
The BSSM offers both traditional/blended/online and full-time/part-time degree completion options. The program requires a minimum of 120 credits:
- Core Curriculum Program: 42 credits
- First-Year Seminars (when applicable): 2 credits
- Sport Management Major Requirements: 36 credits
- Sport Management Special Emphasis: 24 credits
- Sport Management Directive Electives: 18 credits
First-Year Seminars:
- UNIV 1101 First-Year Seminar I (1 semester hour)
- UNIV 1102 First-Year Seminar II (1 semester hour)
- Full-time, first-time in college students are required to take the first-year seminars.
