Program Overview


Taught by esteemed faculty, the program aims to equip students with marketable skills in fields such as fitness instruction, wellness coaching, and personal training. It complements majors in various disciplines and offers potential pathways to graduate studies in exercise physiology or sports psychology.

Program Outline

It is designed for students outside of the KHPR program who want to learn more about health and fitness, human movement, sports, and nutrition. The minor can complement majors in business, nutrition, pre-med, education, or communications.


Objectives:

The Kinesiology Minor aims to:

  • Provide students with a deeper understanding of health and fitness, human movement, sports, and nutrition.
  • Equip students with marketable skills such as applying knowledge of physical activity, demonstrating effective teaching skills, determining strategies for injury prevention, developing and coordinating fitness programs, and demonstrating multi-cultural/diversity competencies.

Teaching:

  • The program is taught by faculty members who have been recognized for their teaching and research by the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE America), the American College of Sports Medicine, and the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport.

  • Fitness instructor

  • Many students pursue graduate opportunities in exercise physiology or sports psychology.
