Program Overview
The University of North Texas' Journalism minor provides an overview of journalism skills, including reporting, writing, ethics, and digital journalism. Students develop analytical, evaluative, and communication abilities for use in multiple media platforms. Enhance your education with writing, visual storytelling and fact-finding skills that help you craft the perfect story. UNT's minor in Journalism teaches an overview of journalism skills including reporting and writing, basic journalism ethics and processes, print and digital journalism, broadcast journalism and photojournalism. Advertising and Public Relations overview courses are also provided.
Teaching:
Developed in close partnership with industry, the Mayborn School of Journalism curriculum gives students broad and diverse skills for work in multiple media platforms. Students develop the skills needed to analyze, evaluate and inform a global audience, as well as to consider the ethical implications of mass communication and its impact in today's world. Mayborn students have access to multimedia labs featuring state-of-the-art computers, software and video equipment. The school emphasizes curriculum and career advising and mentoring by professionally trained faculty and staff. Students select courses from six journalism concentrations and receive comprehensive instruction from faculty with extensive professional experience in broadcast, print, online and digital news. The Mayborn School also delivers academic tracks for Advertising and Public Relations.
