Program Overview

Students customize their learning through optional modules and can complete a dissertation in their final year. Assessment varies depending on the module, with a focus on coursework, practical work, and research projects. The program prepares students for careers in various fields, including marketing, journalism, teaching, and law (with further training).

Outline:

• Explores all aspects of spoken and written English.
• Presents insights into how the language adapts and evolves, in how it’s used and what it’s used for.
• Students shape their learning with optional modules in Years 2 and 3, ranging from the language of Shakespeare to forensic linguistics.
• In the final year, students have the option to complete a dissertation on an area of the English language and linguistics that interests them.
