Degree Overview:

The New Zealand Certificate in Electric Vehicle Automotive Engineering (Level 5) is a one-year part-time program designed to upskill technicians who want to specialize in electric vehicles. The program focuses on diagnosing and repairing uncommon and complex specialist system faults in electric vehicles. It is intended for experienced automotive engineering technicians who want to work in an advanced technical role specializing in electric vehicles. Graduates will be able to work in a range of workplaces that involve advanced diagnostic and repair of electric vehicle faults.


Outline:

The program is delivered as both online night classes and day block courses. It is delivered in partnership with Otago Polytechnic. The program consists of four core courses:

  • EVA5.001 Automotive Management: This course teaches students how to oversee team responsibilities, including compliance.
  • EVA5.002 Drive Systems: This course focuses on diagnosing, analyzing, and repairing uncommon and complex electric vehicle drive system faults to meet industry standards.
  • EVA5.003 Battery Systems: This course covers diagnosing, analyzing, and repairing uncommon and complex electric vehicle battery system faults to meet industry standards.
  • EVA5.004 High Voltage Auxiliary Systems: This course teaches students how to diagnose, analyze, and repair uncommon and complex electric vehicle auxiliary system faults to meet industry standards.
