Program Overview


This program, the New Zealand Certificate in Food and Beverage Service (Level 4) with strand in Restaurant Service, provides supervisory skills for various food and beverage outlets. Students gain real-world experience at events and functions, learning to interact with colleagues and customers and provide high-quality dining experiences. They also gain first-hand experience monitoring and maintaining customer service, policies, and procedures.

Degree Overview:

The BA in Geology provides a general overview of the geosciences and is suitable for students with an interest in the topic who do not intend to pursue a career in research or graduate study in geoscience. The BA in Geology prepares students for careers in science education (when combined with an education degree) or for careers in science journalism, law, or public policy, particularly when combined with a complementary major or minor. Students enrolling in this major should meet with the department chair to plan their program of study prior to registering for courses.

  • GEOL 002 - (NS) Historical Geological Science
  • GEOL 019 - Structural Geology
  • GEOL 031 - Crystallography and Mineralogy
  • GEOL 033 - Environmental Geomorphology
  • GEOL 135 - Sedimentation
  • Four additional advanced geology courses (GEOL 018 and above) selected with approval of chairperson.
  • (Note: Minimum grade of C- required in all geology courses.)
  • Introductory natural science courses
  • Additional natural science courses are recommended, including courses in meteorology and astronomy.
