Program Overview


This five-week program offered by Te Pūkenga covers principles and techniques for managing and pruning selected organic fruit crops. Students will gain knowledge of plant growth and development as it relates to pruning, and develop practical skills in applying these techniques to both young and mature trees. The course format includes evening sessions and weekend workshops.

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this program, the student will be able to:

  • Understand plant growth and development in the context of pruning.
  • Describe management and pruning techniques for a selected range of young and mature organic fruit crops.
  • Apply knowledge of pruning techniques to a selected range of young and mature organic fruit crops.

Outline:

The course consists of:

  • Five Monday nights from 6pm - 9pm (29 July - 26 August)
  • Two Saturdays from 9:30am - 2:30pm (3 August & 17 August)
