Entry Requirements:

  • Sponsorship Funding: All applicants must have secured sponsorship funding from an NHS trust.
  • This sponsorship is applied for through NHS Jobs.
  • Practice Placement: Applicants must have a confirmed practice placement.
  • Practice Teacher: A practice teacher (supervisor/assessor in practice) must be identified and approved.
  • NMC Registration: Applicants must hold a first-level registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife.
  • For Health Visitors, they can be a nurse or midwife for school nursing and district nursing, but must be a nurse.
  • Diploma in Higher Education: Applicants must have a Diploma in Higher Education in Nursing (120 academic credits level 5) or equivalent via advanced standing.
  • AP(E)L: AP(E)L may be considered as part of the entry process up to one third of the programme (40 credits).
  • Community Nurse Prescriber: Applicants who wish to complete the Community Nurse Prescriber qualification/award must have access to a supervisor in practice that holds the community nurse prescriber qualification and is actively prescribing as part of their practice in line with the NMC (2006) standards.
  • English Language Proficiency: Where English is a second language, applicants must provide evidence of success in IELTS assessment level 7.
