This module develops knowledge and skills in caring for children with neurosciences and craniofacial conditions. It covers acute deterioration management and current research and practices in the field. The program includes a clinical case study presentation and emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration and advanced expertise for healthcare professionals. It is available as a standalone module, with typical intake in Semester 2.

Program Outline

This module will enable students to enhance their clinical practice within the neuroscience and craniofacial care specialty. A key aspect of this module is the learnt clinical application of theory into practice, as well as, practical clinical skills in neuroscience and craniofacial care. This module encourages multidisciplinary working and promotes the sharing of skills and knowledge between professionals. The module content will be delivered by clinical experts in the field and improve collaborative working and the sharing of expertise. Students will become competent and confident practitioners in the care of all children and young people with neuroscience and craniofacial conditions.


Objectives:

  • To gain knowledge in the care management for the acute deterioration of children and young person with neuroscience and craniofacial conditions.
  • To develop student’s clinical expertise by studying current research and practice in care of children and young people with common neuroscience and craniofacial conditions.
  • To promote safe and effective care provision and clinical skills are supported by evidence-based practice.
