Degree Overview:
This inter-professional module is taught by expert clinicians and focuses on multiple aspects of the holistic care of the vascular patient, from both a surgical and medical perspective. The module will encourage participants to develop their knowledge, skills and competence in providing evidence-based care for the vascular patient in the acute care setting.
Assessment:
- Element 1 - Clinical competency pack
- Element 2 - Viva using a patient case study Both elements of assessment must be passed to pass this module.

Careers:
Recent policy documents including the Five Year Forward View (Department of Health, 2014) and Clinical Academic Careers Framework (Health Education England, 2015) have stressed the need for a highly skilled, flexible NHS workforce. Completion of this module will provide students with the knowledge, skills and attitude to deliver flexible and high quality care to vascular patients, in line with this requirement. These attributes will facilitate career progression within vascular care, and provide transferable skills that can be used in other specialities or work settings.

- Entry requirements: Applicants must be registered healthcare professionals, working within the vascular clinical setting. Applicants should possess a first degree. Students who have not previously undertaken study at academic Level 7 (Masters level) are advised to consider the workshop on academic writing accessed via the Library.

- Critically evaluate the anatomical and physiological changes that occur in vascular disease, and relate this to a comprehensive and up to date understanding of interventions and care.

- Create original solutions to problems encountered in critical practice, using critical thinking, reflective, and creative skills.

- Demonstrate expertise in the delivery of high quality, evidence-based care of the vascular patient, as evidenced by successful completion of the Practice Assessment Document.
