Care of the Deteriorating Adult Patient (Level 6)
Program Overview
This module equips registered nurses with the skills to recognize and manage deteriorating adult patients using the A-G assessment method. It covers anatomy, physiology, early warning scoring systems, and effective communication strategies.

Degree Overview:
Early recognition, treatment and escalation improves survival rates of the adult patient. This module will provide the student with the essential skills and confidence to recognize and manage deteriorating patients. The module is delivered utilizing the A-G assessment method, also included in the module are early warning scoring systems, underlying anatomy and physiological principles, and effective communication strategies to ensure early treatment and escalation.
Assessment:
Element 1 - Mock clinical scenario/OSCE. Element 2 - Competency document Both components must be passed to pass module.
Teaching:
Using current and contemporary policies and procedures you will be guided to develop your patient assessment and management skills. These key skills will assist in developing you as a practitioner who seeks promotion in their clinical area.

Available as a standalone module: Yes Attendance to the campus is required. Venue: LSBU Southwark Campus Typical intake(s): Multiple intakes in semesters 1 & 2 Entry requirements 120 credits at Level 5 or equivalent, registration with the NMC or HCPC. Working in a clinical area with exposure to deteriorating patients. All applicants need to identify a mentor to complete clinical competences. It is advisable that all applicants should have completed an ILS course within the past year.
