About Program
Program Overview
This online course provides an in-depth understanding of image analysis for the upper and lower limbs. It follows the Adequacy, Alignment, Bones, Cartilage, and Joints, Soft Tissue (AABCS) system, examining normal appearances and common pathologies. Students receive badges for unit completion and an e-certificate upon finishing the entire course, which is CPD accredited and endorsed.
Program Outline
Outline:
The course is made up of 5 units, each requiring approximately 5 hours of study.
- Unit 1 - Systematic review of images: Introduces the systematic approach used to analyze images, applying the image viewing system to the lower limbs and emphasizing the importance of radiographic positioning. It also covers common osteology of the lower limb.
- Unit 2 - Upper limb: Focuses on the upper limb, including the shoulder, humerus, elbow, radius and ulna, wrists, scaphoid, hand, fingers, and thumb. It applies the Adequacy, Alignment, Bones, Cartilage and Joints, Soft (AABCS) system covered in the first unit to this anatomical area.
- Unit 3 - Lower limb: Focuses on the lower limb, including the femur, knee, tibia and fibula, ankle, calcaneum, foot, and toes. It applies the Adequacy, Alignment, Bones, Cartilage and Joints, Soft (AABCS) system covered earlier to this anatomical area.
- Unit 5 - Pathology: Examines non-trauma pathologies that typically present in plain film imaging of the appendicular skeleton. It evaluates common pathologies associated with the adult skeleton and discusses the importance of using the Adequacy, Alignment, Bones, Cartilage and Joints, Soft Tissue (AABCS) system when reviewing non-trauma images. Instead, you will receive a badge for each completed unit, and then upon completion of the whole course, you will be awarded with an e-certificate.
Teaching:
The course is delivered 100% online and is self-guided. It involves reflective activities to assess subject understanding.
Other:
- The course is endorsed by CPD Now, the College of Radiographers.
- The course is open for continuous enrolment, meaning it can be studied at any time.
- The course is designed to be intellectually stimulating, thought provoking, and rewarding.
