Program Overview
The Entrepreneurship Concentration within the BSBA program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for starting, owning, or operating a business. The program emphasizes practical application, guiding students through the various stages of starting a business, operational aspects of running a venture, and planning for growth and development. Graduates are equipped for careers in launching their own ventures or supporting entrepreneurial endeavors in various professional capacities.
Program Outline
Degree Overview:
The Entrepreneurship Concentration is designed for students interested in starting, owning, and/or operating a business venture. It also caters to students who aspire to serve entrepreneurial ventures as consultants, bankers, accountants, and marketing professionals. The program emphasizes practical application, aiming to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to develop and operate new or small ventures. The curriculum guides students through the various stages of starting a business, addresses operational aspects of running a venture, and delves into planning for business growth and development.
Outline:
The Entrepreneurship Concentration requires a total of 18 credit hours, including 12 credit hours in required concentration courses and 6 credit hours in concentration electives.
Required Concentration Courses:
- ENTR 3710 ENTREPRENEURIAL FOUNDATIONS (3 credits): This course provides a foundational understanding of entrepreneurship, covering topics such as identifying opportunities, developing business plans, and understanding the legal and financial aspects of starting a business.
- ENTR 4730 NEW VENTURE FORMATION (3 credits): This course delves into the process of starting and growing a new venture, covering topics such as market research, product development, and marketing.
- ENTR 4750 SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP (3 credits): This course explores the concept of social entrepreneurship, focusing on businesses that address social and environmental issues.

Note:
The only approved MGMT 4000 and MKT 4000 courses must include "Special Topics in Entrepreneurship" in the course topic.
Secondary Concentration in Entrepreneurship:
Students can also choose to pursue a Secondary Concentration in Entrepreneurship, which requires 12 credit hours. This concentration includes the following:

- ENTR 4730 NEW VENTURE FORMATION (3 credits) This grid outlines a course sequence for each semester, starting from the freshman year and progressing through the senior year. It includes specific courses and their corresponding credit hours.

The Entrepreneurship Concentration prepares students for a variety of career paths, including:
- Starting and owning their own businesses: The program equips students with the skills and knowledge necessary to launch and manage successful ventures.
- Serving entrepreneurial ventures as consultants, bankers, accountants, and marketing professionals: Graduates can leverage their entrepreneurial expertise to support other businesses in various roles.
Other:
- University Degree Requirements: The minimum number of hours for a UNO undergraduate degree is 120 credit hours.
- General Education Courses: General Education courses (Humanities, Social Science & Natural Science) must be from at least two different disciplines.
- Placement Exams: Placement exams may be required for Math, English, and Foreign Language.
- GPA Requirements: Courses within the College of Business require students to obtain a minimum NU GPA of 2.5 or better.
- Graduation Requirements: Students must earn a minimum of 120 credit hours for a BSBA. 42 of those credit hours must be in upper division courses. Students must earn a C (2.00) or above in all fundamental academic skills, pre-business, upper division business core, and business concentration courses. CBA students must earn a minimum NU GPA of 2.50 and a minimum Business GPA of 2.50. If students are earning an accounting concentration or secondary concentration, a minimum upper division accounting GPA of 2.50 is additionally required.
