This apprenticeship degree is a first in New Zealand and was developed in partnership with industry to address the looming skills shortage in Infrastructure Asset Management. The program aims to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to manage and maintain critical infrastructure assets, such as water supply systems, communications networks, roads, bridges, and railways. The program is accredited by Engineering New Zealand (ENZ), ensuring it meets national and international standards. Graduates are eligible to become graduate members of ENZ and the degree is accredited to the International Engineering Alliance's Sydney Accord. The program is designed to be flexible and cater to learners at all levels of experience, including those already employed in the industry, those new to the industry, those seeking a career change, and school leavers. The program emphasizes hands-on learning through industry projects, allowing students to gain practical experience in a real-world work environment.

Workload:
The program takes a minimum of two to five years to complete, depending on the student's pathway and prior experience.
- Students with a New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (or equivalent) can complete the program in two years.
- School leavers may take three to five years to complete the program. The learning approach is inquiry-based, with a focus on practical experience. Students are expected to research, explore concepts, and develop conceptual understanding through workplace project experience or Polytechnic simulations/lab work.
