This BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching degree prepares students to take athletes to the next level. The program is endorsed by CIMSPA and provides students with top-class knowledge and skills through hands-on experience in professional facilities and alongside national sports clubs. Assessment:

Students are assessed through a combination of assignments, practical activities, in-class tests, case studies, reflective accounts, group work, group presentations, written exams, and practical exams.


Teaching:

The program is taught through a combination of directed learning, guided learning, and collaborative learning. The course team has excellent links with both local and national sports organizations and clubs, as well as experience working in the industry.


Careers:

Graduates of the program have gone on to work in a variety of sports coaching roles, including rugby, swimming, sailing, and gymnastics. Graduates with sport development interests have worked for sport providers such as Sport Hampshire and the Saints Foundation in roles such as sport development officer, coach, and camp manager.


Other:

  • The program has a strong focus on real-world learning and employability, with students gaining practical and professional skills through a variety of placement options.
  • The program has a partnership agreement with Southampton Football Club, providing students with real-world industry experience at the Club as part of the curriculum.
  • The program offers an ultra-modern sports complex featuring two sports halls, two fitness studios, strength and conditioning and high-performance gyms, health and fitness and personal training teaching gyms, and a sport and exercise therapy clinic.

Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:


UK:

  • A minimum of 104-120 UCAS tariff points
  • A minimum of two completed A-levels with science A-Levels preferred, a BTEC Extended Diploma at DMM or BTEC Diploma at D*D, a T-Level Merit, or equivalent, which comply with the minimum entry requirement of 104 UCAS points.
  • GCSE Maths and English grade 4 or above.
  • All students will be required to undertake a criminal convictions check through the Disclosure and Barring Service.

EU:

  • Qualifications that are equivalent to the British high school A-levels.

International:

  • Qualifications that are equivalent to the British high school A-levels.

Language Proficiency Requirements:

  • IELTS minimum 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each individual component
  • TOEFL IBT minimum 80 with a minimum of 20 in each individual component
  • Duolingo English Language Test - 115 overall with minimum of 95 in each component or equivalent.
