Program Overview
This credit-bearing course enables professionals to critically evaluate their service, driving improvement through effective workforce planning. Participants will explore practical tools, focusing on a work-based project, and gain an understanding of systems thinking, improvement science, and organizational learning within the context of healthcare. This CPD module can be taken independently or alongside others to earn a PgCert Workforce Planning or contribute towards an MSc Improvement Science degree.
Program Outline
You will consider the long-term future of your service and your workforce as well as consider ways in which your workforce, delivery, planning and development of your service and workforce can be improved. Course requirements: You are expected to have achieved your degree and have studied to Level 6 (undergraduate). You may also have some experience of Level 7 (postgraduate) study.
Teaching:
The course will include: an overview of improvement in the context of workforce planning, patient pathway modelling, 4 lenses on improvement including, systems thinking, improvement science, design theory and organisational learning, complexity theory and the NHS as a complex adaptive system. Study days are from 9am to 5pm.
Other:
This CPD can be taken as a standalone module or studied alongside similar CPDs (Leading and Sustaining improvement, Evidence based improvement and Policy context of improvement) to receive the overarching award PgCert Workforce Planning. You may wish to use your PgCert credits and continue on to the MSc Improvement Science by completing a dissertation module.
