Program Overview
This accredited Leadership for Workforce Planning course examines leadership theories and their impact on workforce planning in healthcare. Participants will self-assess their leadership styles, delve into critical leadership and followership concepts, and critically evaluate leadership in healthcare settings. The course can be taken as a standalone module or as part of the PgCert Strategic Workforce Planning.
Program Outline
Degree Overview:
This accredited course will support you to think critically about your leadership and your experience of leadership in healthcare. You will complete some self-diagnostic tests to reflect on your own leadership style while considering the major leadership theories and how these may facilitate or block effective workforce planning.
Course requirements:
You are expected to have achieved your degree and have studied to Level 6. You may also have some experience of Level 7 study.

Teaching:
- This course is taught on day release, select a start date to see the study days:
- Study days are from 9am to 5pm and are delivered online.

- Experienced researcher, writer, presenter and manager with expertise in psychology, improvement science and knowledge mobilisation in healthcare.
- Uses innovative techniques to build team dynamics with staff, researchers and patients.
- Leads the University's doctoral research programmes, and has a strong interest in using new technologies to engage frontline staff in learning opportunities.

- This Leading Workforce Planning course will include:
- Theoretical considerations of leadership and followership.
- Critical evaluation of leadership in healthcare.
- This CPD can be taken as a standalone module or studied alongside similar CPDs (Context of Strategic Workforce Planning and Workforce Planning for Service Improvement) to receive the overarching award PgCert Strategic Workforce Planning.
- You may wish to use your PgCert credits and continue on to the MSc Improvement Science by completing a dissertation module.
- You should be working in a healthcare setting and be willing to apply the learning to your setting.
- We recommend your application is submitted to the University at least two weeks prior to the start of the course.
- After your application is accepted and you have been offered a place on the course, you will be sent information about how to enrol.
- You must complete enrolment before your course starts.
