Program Overview


This BSc (Hons) Clinical Practice degree pathway's final course equips students with the skills and knowledge to implement and evaluate a service improvement project. Through models and frameworks, students develop proposals, set SMART goals, and employ change management strategies to overcome barriers in implementing evidence-based practice. The course emphasizes collaboration with stakeholders, critical analysis, and dissemination of project findings.

Degree Overview:

This is the final course in the BSc (Hons) Clinical Practice degree pathway. This course focuses on the skills and knowledge necessary to implement and evaluate a service improvement project in practice.


Objectives:

  • Gain the skills and knowledge necessary to implement and evaluate a project in practice.
  • Develop a proposal including a work plan for the identified practice/service improvement project.
  • Set, monitor, and measure SMART goals.
  • Develop evaluation and monitoring strategies with relevant tools and measures to assist in the change management process.
  • Apply change management theories, skills, and strategies.
  • Utilize project development models and approaches.
  • Conduct clinical audits and other tools for mapping service development needs and establishing targets for changes.
  • Engage and consult with major stakeholders, including service users and carers.
  • Network and consult with leading specialists and champions.
  • Overcome barriers in implementing evidence-based practice.
  • Develop leadership skills and knowledge.
  • Acquire presentation and publication skills for disseminating projects.
  • Conduct systematic and evidence-based evaluation of the service improvement.

Assessment:

  • Poster presentation (25%)
  • Critique (75%)

Teaching:

  • Taught on a day release basis.

  • Emerging policies, guidelines, and literature (e.g., PDSA cycle)
  • Working within an evaluation framework
