Guitar Award

Program Overview

The Guitar Award program at Point Blank LA is a six-month program that teaches essential and creative guitar skills in small groups of 16 students or less. Graduates will have the ability to perform on stage or in the studio and will join a global alumni community. The program is taught by professional guitarists and includes one 2-hour class each week for 20 weeks with daytime, evening, and weekend slots available.

Program Outline

You’ll be taught in small groups to maximize your learning potential in two college-level courses, Essential Guitar Skills and Creative Guitar Skills. As a graduate you’ll come away with the power to deliver incredible guitar performances on stage or in a studio, and you'll join a global alumni community with the likes of Point Blank London graduate and X-Factor winner Leona Lewis. Term 1

• Guitar Skills - Level 1
• Gain confidence in the most fundamental techniques for writing and performing music on the guitar, including chords, scales, melodies, charts, and more.
• Perform popular chord progressions from tracks in modern styles before writing your own guitar parts with the help of an expert instructor.
• Improve your guitar abilities, chord vocabulary, and skills for writing and playing live.

• Guitar Skills - Level 2
• Go further with your creative musical skills on the guitar, including extended chords, exotic scales, lead playing, melodic articulation, sight-reading, and more.
• Improvise over popular chord progressions in modern styles and craft creative guitar parts with the help of an expert instructor.
• Improve your rhythm guitar, lead guitar, chart-reading abilities, chord vocabulary, and skills for improvising and producing.
• Learn how to approach the notes on the fretboard creatively in order to manifest your unique musical ideas through the guitar.
