Degree Overview:

This practice related module will allow in depth exploration of current developments in the health service that guides and shapes the provision of emergency care provided in the UK. Students will develop their ability to critically consider key theories and concepts as well as the skill to engage in contextual debate. Alongside this students will be encouraged to evaluate the effectiveness of their care through a process of reflection and discussion with their peers in the module.

Assessment methods used on this course 100% course work, Poster Presentation and Abstract.


Teaching:

The teaching, learning and assessment strategy of the module reflects its student centred, patient-centred and practice-focused approach. The module has an appropriate division between structured learning activities and private study. Teaching methods employed will include the flipped classroom approach, problem based learning and clinical scenario seminars. All of the learning methods to be used will engage the student in both academic and practice learning. Teaching will cover current developments and innovations that guide our practice in emergency care. Topics include: Introduction to strategic policies Managing Budgets Change Management theory Leadership Leading a change Skills and Workforce Planning The role of the emergency nurse Managing clinical risk Preceptorship and mentorship Teamwork Managing conflict The patient experience Major Incident planning


Fees quoted are for the first year only. If you are studying a course that lasts longer than one year your fees will increase each year. Tuition fee instalments for the semester are due by the Monday of week 1 of each semester. If the leaving date is after week 4, full fees for the semester are payable.
