Program Overview


Trent's Philosophy program fosters critical and creative thinking through small class discussions and experiential learning. Students explore fundamental questions about reality, existence, ethics, and knowledge, developing advanced skills in critical thinking, writing, and communication. This prepares graduates for a wide range of careers that value these highly sought-after abilities. Participation in events and conferences provides opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing within the vibrant Philosophy community.

Program Outline


Degree Overview:

As a student of philosophy at Trent, you will be challenged to think critically and creatively by exploring questions about the nature of reality, the meaning of human existence, ethics, and the limits of knowledge. In small class settings, you’ll workshop ideas, perspectives, prejudices, beliefs, facts, and other ways of forming opinions and arguments. This interactive academic environment alongside experiential learning opportunities, such as co-op, will push you to apply your knowledge and develop advanced, highly valued skills in critical thinking, writing, and communication. When you graduate, you will join an extensive and successful network of Trent Philosophy alumni, including international bestselling author Yann Martel.


Teaching:
