Program Overview
Trent University's unique Forensic Chemistry B.Sc. program combines chemistry knowledge with forensic analysis techniques. Students gain hands-on experience through research projects and specialized facilities, qualifying them for careers in trace evidence and toxicology, such as Forensic Chemist and Crime Scene Investigator. Degree Overview:
Become an expert at analyzing and identifying unknown substances – key to any forensic investigation in the only degree program of its kind in Canada. Trent’s Forensic Chemistry B.Sc. offers you the opportunity to apply knowledge and techniques in biochemical, environmental, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry in a forensic context, such as evidence collection and analysis. High-achieving graduates of this program are uniquely qualified for careers in trace evidence and toxicology.
Teaching:
High-achieving students in this program – the only one of its kind at any Canadian university – are able to gain hands-on experience through thesis projects, present at conferences and study in courses alongside graduate level students.

- Chemists conduct research and analysis in support of industrial operations, product and process development, quality control, environmental control, medical diagnosis and treatment, biotechnology, nanotechnology and other applications. They also conduct theoretical, experimental and applied research into basic chemical and biochemical processes to create or synthesize new products and processes. Chemists are employed in research, development and quality control laboratories; chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries; mineral, metal and pulp and paper industries; and a wide variety of manufacturing, utility, health, educational and government establishments.
