This MSc Midwifery top-up program is designed for graduates who have already completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery at Kingston University. The program allows students to enhance their knowledge and skills in contemporary midwifery research, problem-solving, and management of complex situations. Students have the choice of undertaking a project from one of the following categories:
- Systematic review and analysis of published material.
- Project in the student's workplace evaluating or leading to a practice or service delivery innovation.
- Assessment is 100% coursework based.
Teaching:
- This part-time program uses a blended approach to provide a flexible and accessible study environment that supports a manageable work-study balance.
- The program incorporates a technology-enhanced approach to learning, including online, live, and recorded lectures, as well as individual tutorials.
- Guided independent study is a key component, requiring students to engage in self-managed learning through reading journal articles and books, working on individual projects, preparing coursework assignments and presentations, and preparing for exams.
- Support services, such as online resources, the library, and the CANVAS online virtual learning platform, are available for independent learning.
- The program's workload consists of 3% timetabled teaching and learning activity (20 hours), with the remaining 97% dedicated to guided independent study (580 hours).

- Midwifery research activity at the university focuses on areas such as clinical interventions, professional practice, women's experience of maternity care, public health, and international midwifery.
- Specific modules other than the Project Module.
